Summer seemed to hang on for an amazing duration this year. I think this morning was the first really quite chillly morning we've had. Others may disagree but then I do have a higher-than-usual tolerance to the cold (which I'm sure I picked up delivering papers at 6am in the semi-arid MIldura winters, where the minimum temperature often dropped below 0°, usually just before sunrise, as the papers were being delivered). I was standing on the platform at the train station this morning waiting for the 8:09 and could see my breath, so I think the season is finally changing.
To further illustrate this (and why, oh why didn't I have a camera with me) there was a guy on the platform talking loudly into a mobile phone. It was one of those older, brick-sized jobs, but he sure looked important talking into it as he wandered through the crowd. Anyway, on the coldness thing, I think it was the first time this season he'd worn his chocolate brown mock-suede jacket. I could tell from the wire-basket pattern that was impressed upon the back. Yes sir, this came right out of the bottom drawer this morning as he fumbled around getting dressed in the dark.
I'm sure I noticed a lot of other noteworthy things this long weekend but buggered if I can remember any of them now.
Just edited a bit of text from one of our departments, describing a product as "This new and innovative product". Pumped up on my own sense of importance and superior knowledgeness, and in an attempt to both punish the author and clean up an ugly tautology, I'm sending it to the printer merely saying "This product". Because these people need to be taught a lesson.
