As I was saying
I'll start that again.
I was writing about the trouble I'm having getting used to the new PC and keyboard, when I went to type a capital w and hit the Ctrl key along with the shift and closed the browser. Sod. Bastard. This keyboard lets you type nice and fast but that's one of the downsides to keys that go down easier than... sorry, no, I'm not going to turn this into some tawdry blowjob double entendre.
The monitor has been my main bugbear (note, this is the first time I have ever used the term bugbear). It's a lovely new LCD job, much better than my old 17" CRT with a lot more working space, great for doing facing-page A4 layouts. The thing is that it's too brilliant, brightnesswise. It took me a couple of days to adjust it so the brightness wasn't too hard on the eyes but so that whites were still white. It's a very fine line and after 4 days on it now, I'm really beginning to notice myself squinting a lot by the end of the day.
So the other things that annoy me on the new keyboard is the way they've changed the keys above the arrow keys. The del, home, end, page up, page down and whatever that other one was. I use these keys a lot (except that other unknown one) and they've gone and rearranged them on this keyboard. So before, where I would press delete, I'm now pressing the backslash key. Where I would press end, I'm now pressing delete and page up is where page down used to be.
Luckily, home is still home, which is always a good thing.
