A man of distinction

I can be, or have learned to become, rather frugal when it comes to money. I achieve this by constantly putting off buying things until there's no way around it. I think things like 'Oh, the hole in this pair of socks isn't that big...' or 'Yeah, I'm really sick of this shirt that shrunk in the wash but if I roll the sleeves up and don't wear a tie you can't tell it's a size too small now' or 'No, I don't need to buy any of the CDs I want; music is so ephemeral anyway. I'll just get sick of it' (This is the biggest lie I currently tell myself. I can actually think of, oh... about a million CDs I'd like to buy). So there's something that just jarrs in my brain when C & I go out with friends and manage to spend a whole fortnights 'allowance' on just one meal. I am trying to come to terms with how expensive and yet how amazingly, mouthwateringly delicious a medium rare beef steak at the Salopian Inn in McLaren Vale is. My brain is so anxious about the credit card debt that will probably never go away but my tummy is oh so happy.
