Long weekend
Had a fab time on the weekend in Port Elliot. We shared a holiday rental with our neighbours right near Boomer Beach.
It was too cold to surf and I didn't take my wetsuit anyway. And it was too choppy most of the time as there was just too much wind. The only time it would have been possible was when wind swung around to the north (favorable wind for surfing on the south coast) were it not for the fact that it was a gale force wind and had actually reversed the flow of the waves. If I had caught a wave at Boomer around 1pm on Sunday I think I could have been in Robe by about 3:15.
Fact of the matter was, it was lovely just to laze about in the house, out of the wind, read the paper, drink loads of coffee during the day and stout in the evening and do bugger all.
We did head out late on Sunday afternoon just as the last of the daylight was climbing the trees near the Victor Harbor foreshore. Everything turned a warm orange: a jarring contrast to the biting cold of the wind. Sunsets are pretty spectacular but sometimes the view you get in the east as the sun disappears can be just as colorful.
