McNorwood

I've mentioned here how my suburb was being pulled down and rebuilt all in one go. But did they have to go and do this:

??? One of our lovely open spaces, where you could sit and relax in the shade of some lovely gum trees. Not anymore, it seems. They did it on Sunday. So nobody would notice, perhaps? No... there were plans up apparently... for a month... outside the supermarket... which closed down... a month ago. My suburb has ceased to be my suburb. Soon, there will be a huge shopping centre in the middle of it. There will be crowds of people from all over coming to enjoy the same franchise stores they could find at any other shopping centre. People will no longer grab a bite at the local bakery; they'll go to the fucking food court! (I hate food courts. They're just microcosms of price-fixing. Not to mention the heat lamps that can, and from what I can tell often do, keep food warm for an entire day's trade.) I so look forward to the parking hassles and the traffic jams. I look forward to recognising none of the staff members and having none of them recognise me. I can't wait until the entire suburb is completely made of concrete. A move to the hills might be in order.
