'no'
Okay, so the battery on my 3210 is giving up the ghost, so the lads down at Optus have a sample of new phones that I may like to buy, by signing up for a new contract.
I can see the sense in doing this because when I originally signed up, my monthly plan was to cover call costs as well as pay off the phone. Now that I'm out of contract, I'm still paying the same monthly fee, yet no part of that fee is paying off anything, so I figure I'm being ripped off.
But the new phones... I don't really like any of them. For starters, they're all too small. When everyone was walking around with new 3210s, toy phones started to appear in petrol stations and the like. They were smaller and, quite aptly, looked just like toys. They looked just like real phones look now! They're for kiddies! They're for people with petite little short little dainty fingers; not for a bloke like me with a well developed opposable thumb.
The other thing is the features. Now while I can appreciate a camera in a phone for the amazing handiness of it, they're out of my price range ($0). Apart from that though, when am I going to need to access email from my phone? I have broadband at work and dialup at home. If I go away (as I did recently) hotels now have internet access and going to an internet cafe costs about $1 to run in, do a quick check and bang out a few replies.
Moblie internet? So what? Polyphonic ringtones? Annoying. Mobile games? Like I have time... Video playback? Where do I insert the dvd?
The one thing I would use in a mobile phone would be an mp3 player. Bring out one of those that I can get for nothing on a $25 plan, and I'm there. Till then, I think I'll just fork out $15 for a new 3210 battery
